Bob Brown is the principal of the Manhattan-based Law Office of Robert J. Brown, PLLC.
With more than 30 years experience as a trial, appellate and arbitration attorney, he is a highly experienced advocate for clients’ interests in achieving positive results in both civil and commercial matters through litigation, arbitration, mediation and/or resolution. Prior to establishing his own law firm in January 2014, Bob, a graduate of Georgetown University and Fordham University Law School, practiced with the international law firm of Mendes & Mount LLP (1992-2013) as a lead trial and appellate counsel in commercial, negligence, premises, product and professional liability cases. From 1983 to 1992, he practiced with the national law firm of Condon & Forsyth LLP, where he served as principal attorney defending a major U.S. corporation against claims involving its elevator, escalator and electrical products; defended airlines and railroads against claims of personal injury, death and cargo loss; and represented a broad spectrum of manufacturers in cases throughout the country. |
In the course of his career, Bob has represented numerous companies and individuals including airlines, railroads, resorts, hotels, landlords, property and business owners, as well as physicians, accountants, security guards, travel and tour companies, bars and restaurants, and manufacturers of a vast array of consumer and commercial/ industrial products. The claims involve a variety of disputes, and are not limited to injury, death, property or commercial loss and damage.
Bob also counsels clients regarding insurance coverage and prosecutes and defends
declaratory judgment actions when necessary.
He has an extensive knowledge of the Lloyd's and London Insurance Market, and has
represented several Reinsurers in matters involving claims, coverage issues and
arbitrations arising under treaty, facultative and retrocessional contracts.
Additionally, Bob has served as chief arbitration counsel in multimillion dollar reinsurance contract disputes involving Lloyd’s of London Syndicates and London Insurance Market companies.
Bob is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of New York;
the United States Supreme Court;
the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals for the First and Second Circuits;
the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Bob is also a Member of the American Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
Bob has published articles in the Tort and Insurance Law Journal and the Triodyne Safety Brief. He has also been a speaker at meetings of the Excess and Surplus Lines Association and the Reinsurance Association of America.
